About Cleopatra

Born and raised in Chicago, Cleopatra attended schools on both the west and south sides of the city. She is a proud graduate of Kenwood Academy High School. A General Assembly Legislative Scholar, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Eastern Illinois University. At EIU, she pledged her devotion to the most illustrious women of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Cleopatra continued her studies as a Jane Addams Scholar at the University of Illinois at Chicago, earning a Master’s of Social Work in 2011. Post graduation, she began working with Chicago Public Schools as a College and Career Coach, where she championed various initiatives. She worked diligently leading a team that raised 6 million dollars in scholarships, steering over 1,000 low income high school students to enroll in various post secondary options, such as University, Junior College, or Trade Schools. She has sustained an unwavering commitment to seeing youth embrace their full potential for success and financial liberation through the creation of educational options.

Cleopatra is currently a featured radio personality on WVON 1690AM the Talk of Chicago. As a radio personality, her previous show was “Rebuilding Black Chicago” dedicated to inspiring listeners to enact their entrepreneurial spirit and provide tools to sustain small black owned and operated businesses. Currently, as Your Favorite Millennial, her show weighs in on everyday political talk and bridging our intergenerational connections to us pushing forward.

Her continued commitment to improve the quality of life on the far south side of Chicago did not go unnoticed. She received a notable highlight in 2020 by becoming a Black Woman to Watch in Illinois Politics.

At the onset of the global pandemic, Cleopatra stepped up with faith that her community would overcome suffrage and founded Roses in Roseland 501(c) (3). The nonprofit has quarterly “Give & Go” disbursement of essentials to residents such as masks, hand sanitizer, body soap, diapers, feminine products, detergent, toothpaste, and toothbrushes. Weekly, she distributes fresh produce to food pantries and senior homes to combat food insecurity. Annually, the nonprofit plans to hold a Historical Roseland Peace parade, the first of which occurred in July 2022. The goals of the Peace Parade are to demand common sense gun legislation; promote initial and continued investment in Roseland; and promote the concept of PEACE during the warmer months and throughout the year. Where Cleopatra calls home is destitute for over 50,000 people and she is steadfast in eradicating decades of thorns by installing beds of roses.

Her tenure at CPS provided a multitude of blessings. The best one was the opportunity to meet the love of her life, Brandon. They married in October 2019 and are now proud parents of a one-year-old son and two dogs.
